Recipe Wednesday: Red, White & Blue

In honor of The Fourth of July, we’re switching our Recipe Thursday to Recipe Wednesday this week. There is just too much fun to be had with Fourth of July recipes. In true spirit, this week’s recipe and wine combination will be inspired by – you guessed it – Red, White and Blue. We’re starting off with the Blue piece of the equation, a luscious, savory blueberry sauce from Better Homes & Gardens that will bring any cut of meat – pork, chicken or steak – to the next level. Try it as a creative alternative to barbecue sauce. It’s a great way to use ripe, in-season blueberries in something other than sweet treats and breakfast baked goods.

Now on to the Red and White – two delicious glasses of wine to make your Fourth extra special. Start off with the Potek Mormann Vineyard Chardonnay, an energetic white with meyer lemon, pear and lovely minerality. Then move on to the red, the Grochau Commuter Cuvee Pinot Noir, a great expression of Oregon terroir, with notes of strawberry, herbs, and earth. Both wines go exceptionally well with a variety of foods, ideal for taking along to Fourth of July barbecues and picnics.
