Wine of the Week: Domain Font du Vent Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Tradition

This week's featured wine is from one of our newest producers, Domaine Font du Vent. This Domaine has a deep familial history in the region, as it has been passed on from father to son for four generations. Currently, the winemakers have focused on producing true to terroir Châteauneuf-du-Pape with elegance and their Cuvée Tradition exemplifies this. Due to the different plots of vines being vinified separately, the cuvée changes slightly every year, and highlights the strengths of each holding and varietal. This vintage's Châteauneuf-du-Pape cuvée has cherries and blackberries on the nose, with hints of garrigue, liquorice and spice. Due to it's elegance, this Rhone wine can be paired with a variety of dishes such as slow cooked foods, baked leg of lamb with spring vegetables, beef and vegetable casserole, and even hard cheese or camembert. We are thrilled to have these beautiful wines in our portfolio! Cheers!

Originally founded in 1950, Bertrand and Guillaume Gonnet continue their family’s legacy by producing wine in their style, but are also making their own mark. Their commitment to understanding the terroir in terms of how it affects the ripening process, and introducing improvements to the production process have both enhanced the elegance and style of the wine. An important initiative for the winery was the natural shift to organic agriculture. Font du Vent had been operating organically for years, so it was a logical next step toapply for organic certification. Their vines have been in their family for over four generations, and organic farming signifies their commitment to passingon healthy vineyards to the next generation.
Produced every vintage from south facing vineyards. Made from very old vines, this wine showcases the Gonnet style: soft, elegant tannins, complexity andfinesse.
